Christmas Wish

santas Christmas prayer:
Wishing you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Christmas Fun!

The students have been working on their Persuasive Writing.
First, we learned some great tips on how to convince someone with our writing:
 * think of the audience-use language and ideas that will appeal to them
 *exaggerate
 *give facts and details
We wrote letters to Santa. Santa responded by sending us an adorable Elf on the Shelf. Using our survey skills we voted on a name.

We welcomed SNOWFLAKE!

Next, we learned that Santa needs help in his workshop. We found out our elf names and got down to work.

We filled out an application for a job in the North Pole Head Quarters. Here's a few samples.  Lets see what happens with that!

Jingle Bells
We had great fun creating a festive dance for the song Jingle Bells. The goal was to work as a group, come up with a pattern core of 4 dance moves that would be repeated at least 3 times to the song Jingle Bells. Oh what fun!

Our school did The Twelve Days of Christmas and it surely was festive everyday!
We had the pleasure of going to St. Anne's to watch their concert and jazz band, and listen to their choir!

Another special treat was going next door to the Leahy Concert at LAFA.

Buoy oh Boy!

Nearing the end of our Solids and Liquids science unit, the kids had the hands-on-task of choosing materials and designing a raft. Students were not assessed on whether their raft could float or not. It was about whether they could trouble shoot and explain why their boat was buoyant or not, using everything we learned about buoyancy and absorption.

 Measuring AREA using non-standard units.

Does the size of non-standard units affect the amount of units needed when measuring area?
Our rug's area is 60 orange large construction papers.
60 orange, small construction paper can only fill half the rug.

The 12 Days of Christmas- St. William Style

We begin our first ever "12 Days of Christmas" this Thursday. Please check the calendar for each special event.

R.A.C.K.

During Advent we prepare for the birth of Jesus. We often become distracted with the commercial aspect of this holiday. So to remember the true meaning of this special time of year, we are going to begin R.A.C.K. (Random Acts of Christmas Kindness) and continue until Christmas Break.
Each day, the classroom leader will choose an envelope with a task and the students will perform this task (at home or school).
Our first random act is...
"To help someone carry something."

Every evening ask your child what their Random Act is for the day.
